I didn’t forget you while I was away on holidays last month, in fact I prepared a blog in my head, I just forgot all about it!

On the first day, Boo, like any normal, curious 3 year old would, ended up with a couple of showers, when she went to the bathroom.

This is the reason why…

All female toilets in the UAE (and Arabic countries) have the requisite bottom-washer shower sprayer as a minimum. All abodes have a bidet (try explaining that to a three year old).

At some hotels they have the automated version including the attached control panel to choose on-toilet bottom-washing, temperature for said, on-toilet bottom washing, toilet seat temperature, and air drying (of course with a choice of cool, warm, and hot)???

You think all that for public toilets is a treat…

Attached above the hand basins in The Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, is

Yes, it’s deodorant (don’t worry its the full CFC variety for hygiene reasons). Each female public toilet contained them (my daughter likes to check out all the bathrooms), and each one had a couple of different scent varieties.

Remember this is a country where the temperatures in summer hover around 50 degrees Celsius with about a 90% humidity, and let me tell you there are a lot of people needing this deodorant (though why they would use it in a shopping mall when they don’t use it at home is beyond me)!

Those black abayas really help out with the body odour situation don’t they?!

I can just imagine how interesting the toilet features would have been to Boo. Guerita would have been fascinated. :)

    Oh boy!
Bidets over here thankfully work different (and are sadly rare).

    Oh, man! :-) ))

The deodorant-thing is… ugh. Do they … oh, I don´t wanna really know what kind of a smell… stench? comes from a mixture of old…. oh-no!

Monet hasn’t looked twice at the bidets in our toilets at home, she first saw them in Italy so I think she thinks it is the norm, which it is over here… Though she has asked about the water spray taps in all bathrooms…

Haven’t spied the deodorants yet, surprisingly.

Guera – I think the abeya’s trap the smell in, I was thinking more the sari’s and the salwar kameez’s!

Boo was more than fascinated :-)

Iris – They have bidet’s at home but shower sprays in public toilets.

    Don’t think about the smell!

Melody – At least Monet has only asked about the water sprays, and not used them!

Mall of the Emirates in Dubai is where the deodorant resides.
