All my dreams for Boo’s childhood have never included ballet or dancing. I dream of weekend mornings watching tee-ball, netball, football, soccer, swimming, drama. Anything but ballet or dancing.

Why?

I spent my childhood and teens as a dancer, ballet, tap, modern. All day Saturdays, straight from school until after 8pm most weekdays was spent dancing. I did it enjoy it BUT I planned to live vicariously through my child and have her do the things I missed out on!

So what has Boo been desperate to do… B.A.L.L.E.T. I tried to dissuade her.

After a few weeks of nagging, I relented, found a ballet school, bought the uniform (ummm, yes before even finding out if she liked ballet), woken up to the same question every day for a week, “Am I going to ballet today?” and helped her try on her ballet costume everyday!

Last night she was so excited she couldn’t sleep, and finally fell asleep around 10.30pm. She was up with the sun this morning. Finally the time arrived.

She loved it and is counting the seven sleeps until her next class. All afternoon she has been teaching imaginary friends how to be as good at ballet as she is (!!!)

LOL! Careful what you wish for!!

She’s gorgeous in that costume! LOVE the skirt.

Her uniform is much nicer than Guerita’s. That looks good enough for a concert. We’ll have to have Boo over to do some ballet with Guerita (and Chiq who loves to join in). They are constantly putting on ballet concerts for anyone who’ll watch. :)

oh dear !! she looks divine – I too was a ballet child. You must have had some talent as it was only the talented girls in my ballet school who did such intense hours !!

I had the boys do a term last year but would not re-enrol this year in protest of overwhelming concert fees …. they were three and five for goodness sake – not prima balletrinas ….

She is her mothers child it would seems – lucky you :) le xox

She looks absolutely gorgeous and you’ve gotta go with their interests don’t you? I’m not into football at all, but guess what I now do on a Saturday morning!

Fe – I can be thankful it is not cricket ;) Boo LOVES the skirt best too!

Guera – I know Boo would love to join in a ballet concert with your girls

Le – She is already planning her concert debut!!!

Jeanie – She’s been a rebel from the day she was born *sigh*

Jen – You’re right, there is no point pushing them to do something they’re not interested in! Football isn’t that bad really, if you can cope with the cold and wet on a Saturday morning ;)

Trish – She thinks she’s the bees knees now :)

Grrrrr still crashing on this one too. Keep trying!

I always, always wanted to do ballet but was never allowed to. She looks adorable. I wish I had had that chance!
