I have finally ended the relationship.

It’s taken me about 18 months to pull the pin on my broadband and phone provider. The cost was excellent, broadband was slowish but reasonably reliable, home phone service was completely unreliable… dropping out every few minutes and requiring me to call back many, many times during the course of a less than average length conversation.

My contract was due to expire next February/March… I could take it no longer after I had to phone my brother back 6 times in 20 minutes due to phone drop outs. The thought of being on hold for an hour to talk to someone helpful in the Philippines, who would attempt to rectify my issues (without success) prompted my late night email requesting cancellation of my service WITHOUT cancellation fees, and the words these companies fear thrown in – Telecommunications Ombudsman!

Sitting in my email inbox the next morning was a request for me to phone them to discuss this and a list of three things that needed to occur if they were to waive cancellation fees. Check 1! Check 2! Check 3!

Bambi in the Philippines was extremely helpful as she cancelled my service (without cancellation fees), and since my phone dropped out talking to her, phoned me back and agreed the service was crap!

I now have my little Mobile Broadband stick (but no home phone line) while I wait patiently for my new ISP to connect me but I am so relieved to have ended that relationship!
