I am feeling much better, much less antisocial, a little more enthusiastic and much less irritable, now that I have accepted what was really bothering me. Thanks to all who commented on my last post.

This week was rough, with both, personal and work stuff. But I survived it, dealt with it, got some sleep, and feel way better. There were even a couple of blog worthy occurrences (that don’t involve whining)!

Boo went to the hairdressers for the first time! I’m not sure why she had a phobia of hairdresser’s. Maybe it’s fear of a stranger invading her personal space and wielding a sharp implement at the same time???

Boo was born with a head of auburn coloured hair, not unlike the colour of Debra Messing’s hair (from ‘Will & Grace’). Very quickly it went blonde, and now it seems to be darkening. Oh I digress – hair CUT not hair COLOUR is what we are blogging!

At 6 weeks old she accompanied me to the hairdresser where she had the ‘rat’s tail’ trailing down the back of her neck removed. Following that her tresses have been untouched by salon hands for nearly 4 years.

Sometime while she was 0ne, our neighbour who had been a hairdresser previously neatened up the uneven baby locks with a chocolate Freddo for bribery. I couldn’t even take her to the hair salon with me – she didn’t want the hairdresser anywhere near her!

By this time last year, Boo’s  hair was revolting and ratty! She always looked like she had bed hair. It was half way down her back but most of it was stringy, fine baby hair. I tried taking her into salons. We watched people have their hair done, she even accompanied me, but still refused to have a haircut.

Before we went to Abu Dhabi last year she relented. She sat in the chair about to get the gown on – next thing you know she was gone! I didn’t even see her get out of the chair and race out of the salon!

Before Christmas she offered me the opportunity to cut her hair, as long as I left it long! No chance baby girl, you would have faired better with a professional *evil grin* I cut it into a bob, removing all that fine, stringy baby hair. It looked fantastic and thankfully she loved that flicky-ness a bob gives you :)

This week she asked to go the hairdresser as we walked past one. I flew in the door with her before she backed out. It was just a small trim but judging from her comment, I think we’ll have no further problems!

Oh it was so relaxing in that chair, with the girl combing and playing with my hair!

Achievement #2 for those of you that may have been wondering!

IBCLC

* And I probably needn’t have worried so much about the studying, I passed with flying colours!

I knew you would ace the exam! Isn’t it funny about our girls not liking hairdressers? We have run the gamut of hair issues, from not liking it brushed, to not wanting it washed right up till now with the not wanting it cut. Then on Friday she says she would love it if the nice lady would cut her hair, amazing!

Yay on the hair cut (my girls still don’t like it at almost 6!) and double yay on your certifications… there can never been enough fabulous caring blogging LCs in the world!
