So it was an over-ambitious, ‘mother of the year,’ cake constructing day.

I was off to a good start.

I had a rectangular cake, a square cake, and store bought jam rolls and jam rollettes.

I had a Palace.

I knew icing with butter icing was going to be a nightmare.

What I did not realise was that my melted white chocolate for shingles, windows and gates was not going to go purple or candy pink coloured as the icing did!

What I did not realise until 10pm tonight… was that the blue lollies I bought to make the ponds were actually clear lollies in blue wrappers!

The dog enjoyed the icing all over the floor, and the clean up took nearly as long as the creation
