Constructing a Palace of Dreams
So it was an over-ambitious, ‘mother of the year,’ cake constructing day.
I was off to a good start.
I had a rectangular cake, a square cake, and store bought jam rolls and jam rollettes.
I had a Palace.
I knew icing with butter icing was going to be a nightmare.
What I did not realise was that my melted white chocolate for shingles, windows and gates was not going to go purple or candy pink coloured as the icing did!
What I did not realise until 10pm tonight… was that the blue lollies I bought to make the ponds were actually clear lollies in blue wrappers!
The dog enjoyed the icing all over the floor, and the clean up took nearly as long as the creation

Wow wow wow! Can’t wait to eat it tomorrow
O.M.G.!! That is the most incredible cake I’ve ever seen!!! Congrats, babe! Have fun on the day… xoxo
INCREDIBLE! And I know how hard it was to cover it in butter icing after doing something similar myself, amazing job! I hope its an absolute hit at the party, can’t wait to see pics!
That is the most spectacular cake I have ever seen. I am in awe.
Impressive !!
Well done you ( and I like the way the white choc doesn’t ‘match’ – it looks better with a bit of contrast, IMO
Wow! You are a very clever, and obviously patient, mumma!
Awesome cake! Bet Boo loved it!
WOW!!!!
Fantastic cake! Having done a bit of that myself in the past (only nothing quite so awesome), I am also very impressed that you had the presence of mind, to take photos each step of the way.
Stunning – you did a super job !
You are the queen!!
‘Salina did mention this morning that you needed blue in your pond, but I see you explained it here.
Happy birthday Boo!!!!
I LOVE it!!!!

You’ve just saved my life! I’m making this cake for my daughter’s birthday this weekend and I can’t find the book anywhere.
