Boo and I were doing coffee, as we do most Fridays.

Santa was returning from his alcohol swilling a comfort break. We heard him ringing his bell before we saw him.

Boo was out of her chair to get a better view of the suited one that she is so scared of… he stopped right next to her and put up his hand for a high five.

Her back was to me, so I couldn’t actually see the look of fear that would have inevitably crossed her face.

There was QUITE a few seconds delay before she hesitantly returned the high five.

She was back at my side within moments giggling nervously. She was like someone who had bungee jumped for the first time and was having a huge adrenaline rush.

I commented that “That was the closest I have ever seen her to Santa since she was a tiny baby”

She couldn’t wait to tell grandma of her achievement, and did so with great excitement when we met up with grandma a few minutes later.

Doest this mean she’s over her Santa phobia???

Gosh NO! Several minutes later when we walked past his chair the usual fear in her eyes was there and she was clinging to me for dear life!!!

Iris – He only high fives sometimes!

Jeanie & Tiff – At the kindy party Santa reached out to put her on his knee for present giving, she very quickly, before he had the chance to reach her said loudly “I’m not sitting on your knee!”

Nothing wrong with shying away from strange men who offer a knee. Sounds like a VERY smart cookie to me.
