Me & Boo Do Bali
We had a lovely, relaxing time on holiday. I think November and December fairly much wore us out and we were both well and truly ready for some R&R.
We spent our first 10 days in Sanur, away from the hectic and busy streets of Kuta. Our bungalow was right next to that of my parents. Separated only by some beautiful lush gardens, full of gekos, lizards and squirrels. The grounds also had ponds with turtles and fish, and my little fauna lover was in heaven.
Not only were there the delights of animals, there was of course the pool, which was right on the beach. Most of our daylight hours were spent in and around the pool.
The only decisions we had to make were which direction to go for our morning walk along the beach, what to order for breakfast (Boo chose watermelon, pancakes, boiled eggs and hot chocolate every morning), which beach front restaurant to choose for our late lunches, and which restaurant (and what to eat) for dinner. Of course that was after the Gin & Bitter Lemon hour (fizzy drink for Boo) and whose balcony we would sit on.
Boo’s swimming improved drastically – especially with her bigger cousins staying down the road and quite often swimming with her. Though she did get very overconfident and gave herself a big scare (not too mention giving papa and me a huge scare) in the last few days!
Boo had the obligatory hair braids, straight after her first swim of the holiday. It certainly saved me the hassle of getting it brushed and tied up everyday.
The twilight views of Mount Agung were beautiful.
The last 4 days of our holiday was spent in the hustle and bustle of Kuta. Our hotel was in a fabulous location but the staff were rude and obnoxious. The General Manager even shouted at me, and told me he did not wish to discuss my issue further when I requested to see him! We won’t be staying there again!
One full day was spent at Waterbom Park. For Boo this was the highlight of her holiday. First there was a float around the Lazy River. Not really sure why the girls have life vests on? They could both stand and are competent enough to swim to the edge. So of course they only wore them the first time.
Next was a play in the children’s pool, before hitting the slides. These two mastered every slide and were unstoppable climbing the stairs and sliding down over and over again. They were bitterly disappointed that neither of them made the 1.2 m height requirement for two of the slides.
Fortunately all the grown-ups and my 8 year old nephew met the height requirements!
I think we breed dare-devils in this family.
To placate the girls they got to Euro-Bungy.
Our last couple of days were spent shopping until we dropped into the pool. As wonderful the time we had, I’m happy to be home and am feeling very refreshed and rejuvenated.

Wow, that sounds incredible. Great mix of fun stuff for Boo and also a bit of R&R (and some G&BL’s!) for you. I could so do with a holiday like this, as lovely as it was to go home, its familiar and I miss the novelty of travel. Sigh.
Great photos! Hate rude service though – the cheek. I’d email the hotel company to complain! Sounds like an ideal holiday, bar the run-in…
Wow, great pics, very beautiful! Sounds like you had so much fun!!! (Apart from that service)
Fabulous photos and glad you had a restorative and fun break !
Sounds divine! Might have to start planning our holiday
Sounds fabulous. Glad you had such a good time.
Sounds like a great holiday excepting rude people. I’m about to pay for flights to Bali in June. It will be my son’s first international holiday so passport time it is for us (I have to renew mine). We’re not staying in Kuta so I don’t need to ask where you stayed.
Sarah – I remember missing the novelty of ‘travel’ when the travel was essentially home.
Melody – No point emailing the hotel company – it was the General Manager who shouted at me over the phone. But my parents and I have done reviews on a few travel websites
Iris, Trish, Sunny, Amanda – It was fabulous
Jen – You and JJ will have a ball especially since JJ sounds much more competent in the pool then Boo!
How lovely! It sounds as though you had a fantastic time.
It sounds like you had a really nice holiday!
Sounds DIVINE! Boo looks like she has grown up an awful lot lately. Savour these moments while you can, Mama.
