Amanda - Boo has been at daycare and 3yo kindy so knows all about peanut/egg/milk allergies. Being that she doesn't like anything else except peanut butter on sandwiches, makes the lunch box difficult for me!

Iris - Yes, just about all schools and daycares are nut-free zones here!

Kate - I agree with you on the education though it seems everywhere has a blanket ban on nuts. Thanks again for posting your breakfast and lunch option research... it's been very helpful :)

Sunny - She has been so over-excited all week. Now one more sleep! See you at swimming

Melody - Ham and cheese sandwiches would be fantastic! I'll see if I can get the little Miss interested in that option???

Tiff - Oh Boo definitely will love all her things! We are so glad Ivy loves the tutu, and can't wait to hear all about her ballet lesson :)

Trish - It's kindy inside the school 2 days per week, as opposed to 1st year of full time school which we call pre-primary

It's great you & SRM can have a natter together. Boo must be so excited . Is it like prep ? (kindy inside a school in NSW I gather) as apposed to Prep (1st yr of full time school in VIC ?)

Sam loves peanut butter too , he is quite disappointed he can't have it at preschool or gym creche or playgroup.

How very exciting! Ivy just had her first ballet lesson today (she wore 'Boo's tutu', as she calls it).

Hope Boo enjoys school and dancing and swimming!

Oh it is so exciting for her (and she is sooo ready!) and a new chapter for you - all that school Mum/P&C/pick-up chit chat/lunch box stress - its a whole new world ;)!!!

So glad we scheduled swimming lessons at the same time - can't wait to hear about Boo's first half day :)

Oh change is in the air!

Talk to the school about the nut free thing... as a parent of kids with severe nut allergies I am not really in favour of a blanket ban. I'd much prefer that the kids and staff be educated about the risks and learn ways to manage them, though I understand schools being scared or litigation or having to do with an emergency.

Hope you get the lunch box drama sorted out.
.... So long as the school isn't crazy. (My H's first kindy banned jam sandwiches for no other reason than the fact that jam has sugar in it).

My K is a peanut paste lover too, but we have a family friend who has anaphalaxis and K was always understood that it can make her friends sick and has endured a variety of other sangas so long as she can have her beloved peanut paste sangas on the weekend. So maybe some sort of explanation of the reason and a deal can be struck??
