Have I mentioned Boo likes to climb?

Well, she does and it drives me insane!

Boo started walking at about 10 months old, she was climbing before that. The first incidence of heart stopping fear on my behalf was around the same time she found her feet. I was hanging out the laundry, from the corner of my eye I spotted my little climber standing on the glass topped outdoor setting, wobbling in the precarious way only new toddlers can.

Since that first incident I have become relatively blasé about the climbing. I would have had a heart attack  way more grey hairs from worry than I already have. Boo climbs constantly and always has a war wound to show for it. Quite frankly I’m surprised we haven’t yet required a trip to the emergency department.

There is a small scar on her lip from a very early incident. There was the black eye from a climbing misadventure at day care

There are always some decent sized bruises, or some huge bumps on her head. There is the broken front tooth. Currently, she is sporting a stomach full of grazes from tree climbing at little kindy, a bump on her forehead, and this lovely facial wound (which she’s really looking forward to showing her friends this week)!

Monkey Girl

I will take responsibility for her need to climb at the playground. I hate getting sand in my shoes – she taught herself to swing about a year ago – and now she’s worked out how to get herself on the monkey bars!

Wow, that is incredible! Amy can hold onto the monkey bars for a few seconds if someone is holding her up but Dasiy, jeez, amazing! Amy has always been cautious, not afraid, just assessing the situation before she leaps in, Stella on the other hand is a maniac!

She is seriously GOOD! I had a couple of shimmyers (sp?!) though I don’t think their monkey bar swings were as impressive as hers! They used to be up every street sign pole they could find. None of them climbed too much on furniture, although #2 actually knocked out one front tooth at about 18 months just trying to climb on the little timber kiddy chair. (Can still hear the *skitter, skitter, skitter* as it went across the cork floor.)

They seem to grow out of it! But it’s a sign of excellent coordination that should hold her in good stead! Despite the bumps and bruises! You might have a gymnast on your hands!

Sarah – Daisy is a maniac dare-devil, too! I’d take an Amy anytime :)

Tracey – We live near a busy road but I’m sure if let loose near a street pole, my little Miss would be up it in a second. I forgot to mention she shimmies up the door frames too (and i have little hand prints and BLACK foot marks from floor to ceiling *sigh*

I feel your pain. I had two early crawlers/climbers/walkers. Usually they are sure of foot … but when they crash, they CRASH…. K had a black eye at Christmas time. …and yeah – I think she as proud of it too

  5. Rhu says:

She is still, and always will be, utterly gorgeous :)

  6. MissyBoo says:

Amanda – I’m glad I’m not the only one with a climber

Rhu – Now if only her behaviour would match!!!
