Boo owns every Barbie movie. She watches them over and over again.

I’m pretty sure I have seen them all… They may be annoying but the majority do have some great moral teachings!?!

One of Boo’s favourites is ‘Barbie in a Swan Lake.’

Last night, I took Boo to see ‘Swan Lake on Ice.’ She absolutely LOVED it (and so did I)!

Looking through the programme while waiting for the show to start, she made a comment about Odette “She doesn’t look very much like Odette!”  Stifling my laughter, I explained not everyone can look like Barbie!

Barbie scores points though.

Even if “Barbie in a Swan Lake” has somewhat used poetic licence in altering the story line a little fair bit, Boo knew the gist of the story, and was able to identify the characters to understand what was happening.

I remember being about her age when my mum took me to see the Moscow Ballet perform Swan Lake, and although my mum had explained the story and the characters to me, I’m not sure I appreciated the experience as much as Boo did.

As a direct result of her Barbie viewing, Boo has developed  a great love for music by Tchaikovsky and frequently has this on in the background while she plays, and ballet dances around the house.

So yes, I am scoring Barbie movies 10 points for cultural enhancement of small children :)

    LOL!

I know a little girl who too owns practically every Barbie movie. Annoying, yes, good morals, yes.

Sounds like you both had a good time – nice one.
