My Secret Life of Craft
I’ve been keeping a secret from you all for a few months now.
I started a new hobby. After the brain overload that returning to study brought earlier this year, reading to wind down and de-stress wasn’t an option. I was doing too much reading!
I taught myself to C-R-O-C-H-E-T….
ssshhhh! Don’t tell anyone!
When you think of crocheting you think of your Nanna making intricate lace doilies, or worse though obscenely coloured knee rugs.
I know that’s what you were thinking. That’s why I didn’t tell you.
The interwebs and especially youTube have an abundance of how to crochet, how to knit, how to do anything at all! It was all very helpful, and over the past few months, sitting by the fire, only working in candlelight I managed to make this throw for the spare room.
And with the left-over yarn thought I’d make myself something
Needless to say both items have been tagged by Boo as hers – as long as I crochet some flowers for the bottom of her hat!

Wow.. you’ve been busy! Now I feel really bad about that scarf I started knitting my youngest about 5 years ago!
Ah, you devil you. I used to crochet and have forgotten how but I’m sure I could pick it up if I wanted to. Look forward to seeing your other projects – I like the hat too.
Awesome !
I used to crochet …I am hearting the rug my MUM is crocheting at the moment …though I doubt she give it to me *sigh* shall have to take it up again I guess too.
You inspire me …damn you ~!
I admit: I used to knit
Love that hat!
Tracey – I’ve been known to start stuff and not finish it many times
Jen – I like the hat, too!
Trish – Go be inspired, love to see what you can whip up. I challenge you
Iris – You could knit something for that new little niece of yours with winter coming your way!
Oh heck, no… now that I think of it, I was 14… it´s aaaages ago, I don´t know how to do that anymore, sadly. Like really sadly, this blog Kleiner Berliner shows what you can do when you can sew, I´m so jealous that I don´t have neither patience not talent for this…
I tagged you btw!
Oh honey – welcome to the nana club! I have always crocheted away my sadness …….and so far this year I’ve churned out several scarves, handtowels and most of a blanket.
(I’ve got a great pattern for a curly crocheted scarf btw!).
I love how neat the crochet on the hat is – well done you!
Iris – Never too late to start again
Amanda – We could start nana’s anonymous! Oooh a curly scarf – might email you for the pattern next winter!
