Happiness in a word – Submit
I’m pulling the pin on my Masters degree.
I have just pressed ‘submit’ on my last assignment E.V.E.R.
All is not lost, I am graduating with a Post Graduate Certificate, and saving myself another few years of angst and added stress.
I knew studying would be a lot of juggling along with work and sole-parenting. How much juggling was required, I wasn’t quite prepared for!
I’m thankful to be finished. Study has taken me away from quality time with Boo on many weekends, it has kept me up into the early hours of many a night, and has increased my stress levels tenfold.
I’m now looking forward to reading stuff other than text books, going to bed at reasonable times, getting my desk clean and clutter free (well at least removing the pile of study notes), and most of all spending quality time with Boo.
You never know I may go back to complete my Masters in the future, but I can guarantee you it won’t be in the short-term, it will be when Boo is much older, able to fend for herself, and not wanting to spend quality time with her mum anymore!

Good for you!
I am part way through my Masters also and I am thinking of doing the same. It is truly awful studying while your Children are growing up. I thought it was a good time to do it, so wrong!
Congrats on the PG Cert!!

Good on you for having the courage to pull the pin. I did one subject about three years ago towards a certificate and realised for sure then that I would not be undertaking postgrad study while my son was young and maybe not at all. Really, the stress is not worth it.
Congrates on the final submission. I remember handing in my dissertation……10 years back. It was such a relief.

You made a good decision. The point of having a master degree is to secure better future for our children and for ourselves.
What the point then if in the process we cant grow our children like we want to, and therefore giving them a better life ?
