Spooky Buddies–Halloween Review and Giveaway
Those loveable Disney ‘Buddies’ are back with a new movie just in time for Halloween.
In case you don’t know who the ‘Buddies’ are, please don’t tell Boo. She loves the 5 of them, Rosebud, B-Dawg, Budderball, Mudbud and Buddah.
And to be honest, who can resist cute golden retriever puppies anytime, especially when they talk and have the attitude of these 5?
Spooky Buddies is set at Halloween in a small American town. It has all the ingredients of a Disney movie, good versus evil, and the team working, good puppies and their kids obviously save the town from doom and the evil warlock!
The beginning and back story were a bit scary for Boo whose almost 6, but once the Buddies appeared she really enjoyed the movie. I know a Mr Almost-8, Buddies fan that has watched this movie everyday for the past couple of weeks, and thinks it’s the best one yet!
Cute, talking animals are definitely a winner with these kids!
I wouldn’t recommend this movie for children under school age, or for those that have difficulty separating what happens in movies from reality. There are some dark and scary moments in the movie and I was glad that we didn’t end up watching it with Boo’s school friend, who is a little bit of an anxious sort.
Boo and Mr Almost-8 both agreed that it would be really great if Halloween in Australia was like Halloween in the Spooky Buddies movie. Even I have to admit, the decorated homes and the efforts people go to with costumes does look like fun.
Boo was thinking she was going to have a Halloween-themed birthday party this year, so she could wear her witch costume. She changed her mind at the last minute but with all the cool decorations and props around, I’m definitely going to do that in the next couple of years, and scare all of her friends with spookiness ![]()
I did buy a couple of things – a pumpkin head to hang at the front door and some eye-ball lollies in case anyone comes knocking on our door at Halloween. As for whether Boo can trick or treat? I am undecided…

I loved Halloween as a kid, but not so much anymore. I do take my daughter trick or treating, but we go to local churches who do Trunk or Treat. They give candy out of their trunks, they have games for the kids and they do biblical skits. My daughter absolutely loves Halloween and it is over way to fast for her taste. LOL
I still love Halloween, but always seem to just fly by now.
Halloween is not really noticed in our house we rarely have trick or treaters so i dont keep or buy anything special to hand out.I just don’t think its really an australian tradition and we are becoming a bit americanised by celebrating it.
I love the excitement around Halloween, the costumes and the lollies.
I have to admit we don’t really celebrate holloween… we don’t go trick or treating, but I always have some lollies on hand just in case of trick or treaters (although I always end up eating them all as we never have kids trick or treating in our area!!!).

We usually try to remember to have a few goodies here for kids that do trick or treat. Only seems to be 3 or 4 kids from our complex. My kids are too young but as kids my brother and I used to go trick or treating.
We are starting to celebrate it more now. We have treats near the front door as there is alot of kids in our neighbourhood and watching their faces when the lollipops and chocies come out is priceless!! We are having a barbecue this year with friends and I intend to put some spooky things on the table and a scary punch, exciting!!
Have tweeted as gherkkerry and shared this great giveaway!!
My kids absolutely love Disney’s Buddies movies! We normally go to a friend’s house for her annual Halloween party. The kids love dressing up and playing fun games and eating spooky food. They’ve never been trick or treating though. Not sure I’m too comfortable with them accepting lollies from strangers.

We don’t do trick or treat. I’ve never had anyone knock on our doors yet. We don’t celebrate Halloween
I don’t do Halloween. It’s more of an American thing
I LOVE Halloween. We were never allowed to do it, but my church has done stuff I dressed my daughter up for one year. We plan on going to the States one year to see my husbands family there at the same time as Halloween.
Despite many Aussies thinking it’s American, whilst it is very big there, it is also big in the UK.
I have always loved it and since my husband is a USA citizens I have an excuse to love it more.

We LOVE halloween – trick or treating is so much fun, especially to the households that participate, and any excuse to dress up is good enough for us
I always have goodies both in my home, and in my handbag for any trick or treaters we run into

I live in Australia, so we don’t really celebrate Haloween, but my kids and I love it.
My daughter is too young to TOT at 14 mo but I will be getting the lollies in, in case we have any ghoulish visitors
