Boo and I have gone on holiday. The blog may or may not be updated?

My plans -

  1. Reduce my sleep deficit hours
  2. Move very little from a deck chair/lounge
  3. Finish the trashy novel I started on my last holiday in April
  4. Eat lots of yummy, spicy foods
  5. Begin on the beverages well before happy hour
  6. Enjoy several spa treatments on most days

See you soon :)

Those loveable Disney ‘Buddies’ are back with a new movie just in time for Halloween.

In case you don’t know who the ‘Buddies’ are, please don’t tell Boo. She loves the 5 of them, Rosebud, B-Dawg, Budderball, Mudbud and Buddah.

And to be honest, who can resist cute golden retriever puppies anytime, especially when they talk and have the attitude of these 5?

Spooky Buddies is set at Halloween in a small American town. It has all the ingredients of a Disney movie, good versus evil, and the team working, good puppies and their kids obviously save the town from doom and the evil warlock!

The beginning and back story were a bit scary for Boo whose almost 6, but once the Buddies appeared she really enjoyed the movie. I know a Mr Almost-8,  Buddies fan that has watched this movie everyday for the past couple of weeks, and thinks it’s the best one yet!

Cute, talking animals are definitely a winner with these kids!

I wouldn’t recommend this movie for children under school age, or for those that have difficulty separating what happens in movies from reality. There are some dark and scary moments in the movie and I was glad that we didn’t end up watching it with Boo’s school friend, who is a little bit of an anxious sort.

Boo and Mr Almost-8 both agreed that it would be really great if Halloween in Australia was like Halloween in the Spooky Buddies movie. Even I have to admit, the decorated homes and the efforts people go to with costumes does look like fun.

Boo was thinking she was going to have a Halloween-themed birthday party this year, so she could wear her witch costume. She changed her mind at the last minute but with all the cool decorations and props around, I’m definitely going to do that in the next couple of years, and scare all of her friends with spookiness Winking smile

I did buy a couple of things – a pumpkin head to hang at the front door and some eye-ball lollies in case anyone comes knocking on our door at Halloween. As for whether Boo can trick or treat? I am undecided…

On our way down south recently. The Apple FunPark (see more pics here) in Donnybrook was a great find.

Last week, Boo went fishing for the first time.

It started off well.  After 10 minutes she lost her patience.

Grandma caught a fish.

Papa caught a fish.

Boo hadn’t had a nibble! She was quite content to poke and prod at these fish, pick them up and wrangle them when they flipped away from her!!!

While the people at King Trout Cafe, cooked these two rainbow trout up for a yummy, scrumptious lunch, Boo decided to try out her rod again.

And between the two of us we wrangled up another two rainbow trout (over 1.5kg worth) to bring home.

Rainbow Trou  Guess what happened to this guy?

Yes, we ate him for dinner last night… and Boo declared me “a very good cooker of rainbow trout.”

There is one left in the freezer, and we’ve Googled somewhere closer to home for our next trout fishing expedition!
