There is one more day of January, one more day, one more day… Telling myself this because January has not been kind to me!

First, I dropped my best Guess sunglasses and the arm broke off – irreparable but thankfully insured.

Next was the unprovoked (???) vandalism of my car. Here if you missed it! Not enough damage to warrant an insurance claim!

Then Boo dropped my iPhone 3GS (see here). Thankfully insured and replaced this week with an iPhone4. Silver lining to that tale :)

One of my besty’s mum passed away.

Yesterday we headed north of Perth for some fun in the sun. 50km from our destination this headed toward us

Within minutes this came over the top of us

And then the heavens opened up, and there was no visibility. We had to pull off the highway and wait it out for about half an hour.

Thankfully it blew over  completely, and we were able to enjoy the beach for a few hours before dinner, and pink bubbles!

And after dinner and pink bubbles, I fell down some steps and sprained my ankle.

I now have a big, fat, puffy cankle and limited mobility!

Hope January has been kinder to you!

In other news – the cyclonic visit of Bianca expected tonight appears to be cancelled!

And if you’re feeling lucky don’t forget my Logitech Patterned Mouse Giveaway (retail $69.95)

At some point on Sunday, Bianca will pay us a visit. She may just breeze through, or she may create a doozey of a storm. We won’t know what she’s capable of until she arrives. They’re predicting some havoc.

I woke at 5am to thunder and rain.

I woke up at 9.30am! Yes, and because Boo is an even better sleeper, she woke up at 10.30am. It’s Saturday okay!

Anyway, when I woke up, the wind has gone, the sky is cloudless, and it’s over 32 degrees, sunny and humid.

Today, in the scorching heat (predicted at 38 degrees), I need to prepare.

Apparently I need a cyclone kit containing

  • battery powered radio – check (has no batteries to fit)
  • spare batteries – check but they are all of the size to power small toys
  • water – after having no tap water for 12 hours a few weeks ago, the fridge is stocked
  • tinned food – does tuna, and tinned Roma tomatoes count?
  • candles – yes there’s some leftover birthday ones, they’ll be okay, won’t they?
  • 1st aid kit – yep, packet of Barbie bandaids and nurofen in cupboard!

I’m adding a few things of my own

  • iPhone charged for tweeting
  • camera batteries charged for photos
  • pink bubbles available – check 4 bottles
  • Gin and Tonic – check bottle of each
  • vodka for if all else fails – check
  • random liqueurs and spirits for desperation – check

If it wasn’t so HOT, I’d be outside battening down the hatches. When I get to it, this will involve moving the toys and bikes littering my yard to the shed, and attempting to secure the outdoor setting. As for those precarious tree branches, they’ll have to stay as I’m no lumberjack!

In the past few months, we have said goodbye to the mother’s of two of my BFFs. It really starts to hit home that my parent’s are getting older. They’re in their 60s, but then so were these two women… not at all old by today’s standards.

I received this special request from my friend this morning, and thought I’d share it here today.

Hello friends

Pancreatic cancer has claimed the life of my Mum, and as you know it remains a difficult cancer to diagnose early, meaning treatment options are often limited. I am sure you have all supported cancer research many times in the past – this time around I ask you to consider donating specifically to pancreatic cancer research, so that for our generation, and those of our kids, we can be confident that this type of cancer is better understood. Then, we may be able to look forward to more successful treatment options and a more positive prognosis for those diagnosed with this terrible disease.

Information on how to donate can be made at:

https://www.giving.garvan.org.au/avners

Thanks to all of you for your support, hugs and help. It’s so needed and so welcome.

N xxxxxx

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be going back to work, and back to uni.

Next week, Boo will be going back to school, though this year she’s full time so technically it could be classed as she’s starting school.

To  commiserate celebrate going back to our regular, routine lives, the brilliant people at Logitech have put some Summer fashion sparkle into our lives. Cheering us up and inspiring us for the next 10 weeks until we go to Bali with mice.

Not just any mice, but mice from the Logitech Spring/Summer Patterned Mice Collection

Logitech Mice

These Logitech mice look gorgeous on our desks – Boo’s desk is currently sporting a Plum Current mouse, and my desk is displaying a Blue Trance mouse.

Not only are these mice fashionable, it has got to be the most comfortable mouse I have ever used.

Did I mention it’s cordless? A bonus for Boo, who was forever tangling the cord of her black Logitech mouse, and the cursor would be all over the place! The USB is so tiny, that it would be perfect for a laptop, too.

Thank you Logitech, Boo and I are seriously impressed :)

Now for the good news, Logitech has said I can giveaway one of the Logitech Spring/Summer Patterned Mice (retail for $69.95) to a lucky Australian reader.

All you need to do is leave a comment about where you, or someone in your life is going back to (has gone back to), and be either Following Me & Boo on Google Friend Connect, or like Me & Boo on Facebook, or both if you like!

Winner will be drawn by random.org (or Boo’s raffle draw).

Entries close at 6pm (AWST) on Sunday, 6th February 2011.

* This is not a paid review, though Boo and I both received a patterned mouse courtesy of Logitech
